Overview
We are looking for a motivated Copper & Fibre Network Infrastructure Cabling Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their technical skills, take on greater responsibility, and build a long-term career within the network infrastructure industry.
We undertake a wide range of commercial projects across the UK, installing and maintaining copper and fibre-optic network infrastructure across a variety of sites.
Due to the business working on sites all over the UK, working away is and will be an ongoing requirement.
The Role
As a Network Infrastructure Cabling Engineer, you will be involved in the installation, termination, testing, and fault-finding of structured cabling systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installation of Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Cat 6A structured cabling systems
- Installation and splicing of fibre-optic cabling (multimode and singlemode)
- Installation of containment i.e. conduit, trunking, tray, and basket
- Installation of network cabinets
- Fluke testing of copper and fibre cabling
- Identifying and resolving cabling faults
- Reading drawings, specifications, and cable schedules
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and health & safety
- Completing installation and testing documentation
- Working as part of a team and, where appropriate, taking responsibility for individual projects

Depending on your ability and ambitions, progression could include:
- Network Cabling Engineer → Senior Engineer → Lead Engineer → Project Supervisor / Project Manager
Along this pathway, there are opportunities to develop specialist skills and complete relevant training such as:
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- Network infrastructure design
- Network equipment installation and configuration
- Project Management
- Estimating and surveying
We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, takes pride in their work, and wants to take the next step in their career.
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have experience in structured network cabling, particularly:
- Cat 5e / Cat 6 / Cat 6A installation
- Copper termination and testing
- Fibre installation
- Fibre testing/splicing experience is desirable
- Experience working on commercial sites
- Ability to read drawings and understand cable routes
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Professional approach when dealing with customers and other contractors
Also, hold the following:
- Full clean UK driving licence
- ECS or CSCS card
Industry qualifications and manufacturer certifications are advantageous but not essential.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude and ambition to progress.
