About The Role
Help BT turn network technology into opportunities that solve real customer problems. As a Network Innovation Commercialisation Manager, you'll connect technical possibilities with commercial evidence: why a technology matters, who needs it, and whether it makes sense for BT to develop it.
This is a manager role in the Technology and Network Innovation Commercialisation team, part of the Research and Commercialisation division in Networks. The team exists to help translate emerging network capabilities into commercially meaningful opportunities that can inform product innovation and investment choices across BT’s customer-facing units.
The role supports senior colleagues and cross-functional teams by bringing together technology insight, customer understanding and market evidence. It helps identify which customer challenges an emerging capability could address, which customer segments are most likely to value it, and what evidence is required to shape and validate a compelling early-stage proposition.
This role offers an opportunity to influence how network capabilities are developed by bringing the customer's perspective into consideration. It combines technology and commercial work, including developing value propositions and assessing market opportunity.
You will be part of a small but friendly team who work on early-stage technologies and commercial activities bring value to BT and our customers.
We're hiring two people to help grow our network innovation commercialisation team.
This role can be based in London, Birmingham, Ipswich, Bristol, or Manchester and our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will support early-stage commercial exploration, working with technology, product, commercial and customer-facing teams to answer the following questions:
- What customer challenge or unmet need could this technology capability address?
- Which customer segments and personas are most likely to benefit, and why?
- What value proposition and use cases could make the capability relevant and compelling?
- What qualitative or quantitative evidence is needed to validate demand and reduce uncertainty?
- What further work is required before the opportunity can progress?

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
