Network Lead for Secondary Maths

Reports to: Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Professional Development
Location: West London (travel to other sites as needed, flexible working available)
Contract: 1 Year FTC (maternity cover)
Pattern: Full time (standard hours 9am – 5.30pm), 0.8 FTE would be considered
Start date: Ideally January 2027, but flexibility is available
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000, but negotiable for exceptional candidates.

Key responsibilities

Working alongside the existing Secondary Maths Network Lead, the wider Curriculum and Assessment team, and Ark Curriculum Plus, you will:

  • Provide targeted, school-facing support to maths departments, working with leaders and teachers to strengthen curriculum implementation, teaching, and pupil outcomes.
  • Support implementation of Ark's maths curriculum and assessment approach, including the KS4 curriculum framework, Precise Planning, common assessment, and effective use of assessment information to respond to gaps in learning.
  • Support our work to strengthen KS3 mathematics, including the Year 7 maths catch-up programme and approaches to improving teaching and addressing gaps in foundational knowledge.
  • Develop maths leaders and teachers across the network through Network Days, subject network meetings, professional development, collaboration, and the sharing of effective practice.
  • Contribute to the continued development of Ark's maths curriculum and resources, working closely with colleagues across Ark Schools and Ark Curriculum Plus.
  • Use evidence from school visits, assessment, and outcomes to identify priorities, provide clear and actionable feedback, and support departments to make and sustain improvements.
  • Contribute to wider maths priorities and projects, including work on teacher deployment, enrichment, and curriculum development.

Is this you?

  • An excellent and credible maths practitioner with a strong track record of teaching and securing strong pupil outcomes at secondary level.
  • A strong communicator and collaborator, able to build effective relationships with maths leaders and teachers across a network of schools.
  • Passionate about improving maths teaching, curriculum, and assessment, with the ability to translate subject expertise into practical support for schools.
  • Able to use assessment, outcomes, and other evidence to identify priorities and support leaders to improve provision and pupil achievement.
