🚨 Network Operations & Incident Management Engineer | 3-Month Contract
💰 £500 per day | Outside IR35
📍 London | 2–3 days onsite, 2 days remote
📅 3-month contract
We’re looking for an experienced Network Operations Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise/data centre environment, taking ownership of complex incidents, network stability, security platforms and operational improvements.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational support across enterprise, WAN and data centre networks
- Troubleshoot complex L2–L7 issues across routing, switching, firewalls, cloud connectivity and Cisco ACI
- Lead incident response, RCA and permanent remediation
- Support network performance, capacity, resilience and optimisation
- Implement network and firewall changes with appropriate risk, rollback and documentation
- Support Cisco ACI/APIC, Palo Alto and Fortinet environments
- Work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Cyber Security and external vendors
- Maintain network documentation, SOPs, runbooks and operational standards
- Support compliance, audit requirements and operational KPI reporting

🛠️ Essential Technical Experience

- 8–12+ years enterprise/data centre network operations experience
- Strong L2–L7 troubleshooting: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS and WAN routing
- Hands-on Cisco ACI / APIC operational experience
- Strong experience with Palo Alto (PAN-OS/Panorama) – policies, NAT, App-ID, User-ID and HA
- Strong Fortinet FortiGate experience – policies, VPNs, SD-WAN, FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer
- Experience with MPLS, SD-WAN, hybrid WAN, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect
- Good understanding of AWS/Azure networking and hybrid environments
- Python and Ansible automation experience, including APIs, health checks, log parsing and workflow automation
- Knowledge of network segmentation, Zero Trust, access control, encryption and security compliance
- Experience working in regulated environments, ideally financial services
