Network Process Automation Engineer (Python)
Location: London (Hybrid)
Contract: 9 Months (Initial)
Rate: Up to £420 per day (Inside IR35)
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Network Process Automation Engineer with a strong background in Python development and infrastructure automation.
This role is ideal for either:
- A Python Developer who has automated network, compute or middleware environments,
- A Network, Infrastructure or Platform Engineer who has developed automation solutions using Python, Ansible or Infrastructure as Code tools.
You'll play a key role in automating infrastructure management, certification processes and testing, helping to deliver infrastructure-on-demand through scalable automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement automation solutions for infrastructure certification and plant management using Python and Ansible.
- Build, extend and integrate APIs to enable infrastructure-on-demand capabilities.
- Develop automation to support lab-based testing for new hardware and software certification.
- Automate repetitive infrastructure tasks relating to installation, configuration and ongoing management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions.
- Develop well-architected, maintainable and reusable code.
- Support continuous improvement of infrastructure automation capabilities.
- Contribute to testing, validation and deployment of automation solutions across complex infrastructure environments.

Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience developing automation solutions using Python.
- Experience automating infrastructure using Ansible.
- Experience writing scripts using Python, Shell or similar scripting languages.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Experience working with REST APIs and API integrations.
- Comfortable working within Linux command-line environments.
- Experience automating installation, configuration or management of infrastructure.
- Good understanding of distributed applications and the infrastructure they run on.

Technical Knowledge
You'll have a solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
- TCP/IP
- HTTP / HTTPS
- SSL/TLS
- DNS
- Routing concepts (BGP desirable)
- Linux systems administration
Desirable Experience
Any experience with the following would be advantageous:
- Terraform
- Writing Ansible modules or custom plugins
- Writing Terraform providers
- Compute, middleware or network infrastructure automation
- CI/CD pipelines
- Git
- Virtualisation technologies
- Infrastructure certification or lab environments
- Container technologies
Ideal Background
We're particularly interested in candidates from backgrounds such as:
- Python Developer (Infrastructure Automation)

- Platform Engineer
- DevOps Engineer
- Linux Systems Engineer
