Network Production Engineer (Python / Network Automation)

Location: London, UK

Working Model: Hybrid – 1–2 days onsite

Contract: 12 months

We are looking for an experienced Network Production Engineer to join the infrastructure engineering team of a leading global technology company operating one of the world's largest and most complex network environments. This role combines network engineering, software development and automation, with a strong focus on Python, Linux and network provisioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automation tools and workflows for network provisioning and deployment.
  • Build automation for the integration of new routing and switching platforms.
  • Develop end-to-end test automation frameworks for network hardware, software and platforms.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to improve software and automation workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex network, software and infrastructure issues.
  • Support qualification and testing of new network platforms in lab environments.
  • Partner with engineering teams to deploy and integrate new products into production.
  • Develop and maintain software on Linux-based systems.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, test automation or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong hands-on Python development experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience on Linux.
  • 3+ years of experience developing automation for network provisioning, deployment or operations.
  • 3+ years of experience working with network device configurations.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6 and networking fundamentals.
  • Practical knowledge of BGP, MPLS, IS-IS or similar routing protocols.
  • Experience with at least one network vendor such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Nokia, Ciena or Infinera.
  • Familiarity with AI tools used for software development and coding.
