The Role
This is a regional role covering a wider geographical area; however, the successful candidate can be based on their local treatment works, with travel across the region as required.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual for a 12-month secondment to act as the focal point for all short and long cycle capital investment activities across a designated geographical area of the Wastewater Network. This is a key role that bridges strategic programme development and operational delivery, ensuring investment decisions are effectively translated into high-quality outcomes for our assets and customers.
You will play a leading role within the IAP and IBP forums, supporting the development of local and regional network investment programmes. Once programmes are approved, you will be responsible for the delivery of Very Small Projects (VSPs), providing technical leadership, ongoing support for capital schemes, and managing escalated reactive projects within your area. You will ensure projects are delivered safely and within agreed timescales, cost, quality, and performance requirements, while remaining compliant with asset standards and operational needs.
The role also requires strong analytical and technical expertise, with responsibility for gathering and interpreting data, preparing technical documentation, drawings and specifications, reviewing proposals, and supporting project development from concept through to delivery and handover. In addition, you will provide day-to-day technical, contractual and commercial support to both Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure delivery teams, helping to drive successful project outcomes across the wastewater network.

What You'll Be Doing
- Assess investment needs submitted through the problem note process, balancing customer, performance, safety, cost and delivery considerations.
- Work with County Performance Teams and stakeholders to develop the most appropriate investment solutions and delivery strategies.
- Ensure asset and project data is accurate, up to date and maintained across corporate systems.
- Develop project scopes and produce the required technical, commercial and handover documentation to support successful delivery.
- Act as Designer and/or Principal Designer where required, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant standards.
- Provide technical, contractual and commercial support to delivery teams, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate customer, land access and stakeholder requirements to enable efficient project delivery.
- Review and approve project handover information, including operations and maintenance documentation, health and safety files and as-built records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and environmental obligations.
- Resolve complex project, stakeholder and customer issues, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, best practice and collaboration across the business.
- Support the wider Wastewater Network team and business objectives as required.
What You'll Bring
- Degree or HNC in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline), or significant equivalent experience within wastewater networks.
- Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.
- Proven knowledge of wastewater network operations, asset management and maintenance techniques.
- Understanding of pumping station operations and sewerage legislation.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including CDM Regulations and NRSWA.
- Awareness of Water Industry Specifications and asset standards.
- Experience using reporting and asset management systems (e.g. MyRisk, JIRA, OneMap).
- Strong project costing, budgeting and resource planning skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to coach, influence and build effective working relationships across teams and contractors.
- Experience supervising contractors and supporting project delivery.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to manage complex issues and make sound decisions under pressure.

- This is a development opportunity for internal applicants only.
