We take as much pride in our people, culture, and work-life balance as we do in making better software. We’re not just making better software. We’re making the making of software better. Collaborative, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to problem-solving, we bring the step change our customer needs to sustain innovation. Role
ClearRoute is looking for a Network Security Engineer to take ownership of firewall policy management and network security operations across our client estate, with AlgoSec at the centre of the toolset. You'll be the go-to specialist for administering the AlgoSec Security Management Suite, using it to automate policy governance, risk analysis, and compliance reporting across large, multi-vendor firewall environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You'll work directly within regulated, enterprise-scale environments, reviewing and optimising firewall rule bases, running recertification exercises, and building the automation that takes manual, error-prone policy work off engineering teams' plates. You'll sit at the intersection of security engineering, operations, and governance, translating firewall and network security requirements into practical, auditable controls that hold up under regulatory scrutiny.
Alongside the technical delivery, you'll be a trusted voice with both technical and executive stakeholders identifying where security posture, operational resilience, and business need are in tension, and helping clients navigate that trade-off with clear, well-reasoned recommendations.
Required Experience
AlgoSec & Security Policy Management
- Hands-on experience administering and supporting the AlgoSec Security Management Suite, including: Firewall Analyser, FireFlow, ObjectFlow, AppViz.
- Experience utilising AlgoSec to automate firewall policy management, risk analysis, access recertification, change governance, and compliance reporting.
- Strong understanding of application connectivity mapping, traffic flow analysis, and security policy optimisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
