Network Security Engineer
Stevenage
£50,000 + Shift Allowance + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
We're partnering with a leading organisation within the defence and technology sector that is looking to appoint a Network Security Engineer to join its 24/7 Security Operations capability.
This is an opportunity to work within a highly secure environment, defending critical infrastructure and supporting the delivery of advanced security operations across a complex enterprise network.
You'll join a team responsible for monitoring, protecting and improving security systems while investigating threats, responding to incidents and helping strengthen cyber resilience.

What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and supporting enterprise firewall environments
- Investigating security incidents and network anomalies
- Monitoring security systems across a large-scale infrastructure
- Performing network traffic analysis and packet investigation
- Supporting IDS/IPS technologies and secure proxy platforms
- Maintaining VPN and secure communications technologies
- Contributing to vulnerability management activities
- Working within a 24/7 Security Operations environment
What We're Looking For
- Experience within a SOC, Network Security or Cyber Security function
- Strong networking knowledge including TCP/IP, Routing, Switching and DNS
- Firewall administration experience across Palo Alto, Cisco or Check Point
- Understanding of IDS/IPS technologies
- Experience supporting VPNs, SSL/TLS and MFA solutions
- Exposure to network monitoring platforms such as PRTG or Nagios
