About The Role

The Network Service Technician position, based in Brixton, is a full-time, permanent role with Thames Water, offering a salary from £29,000 plus additional standby payments. Working 38 hours weekly, you will respond to a 1-in-8 rota covering late shifts and standby duties, with travel to other South London sites required. Your primary focus is resolving customer network issues, from pressure problems to urgent repairs, ensuring minimal supply disruption. Key responsibilities include operating and isolating water mains for scheduled or emergency tasks, and taking ownership of customer queries and complaints, often visiting them at home or their workplace. This customer-facing role demands strong communication skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.

We are looking for a Network Service Technician

This is an exciting and varied customer-facing role where day to day you will be resolving customer network challenges to ensure minimal disruption to customer supply. You will be supporting with a variety of projects, ensuring the best service is given to our customers, helping with anything from pressure issues to emergency repairs.

Base Location

Brixton - SW2 1SB, travel to other South London sites required

Hours

38 hours per week, plus rota (1 in 8 late shifts & standby rota)

What you will be doing as a Network Service Technician

  • Operating and isolating water mains for planned or emergency works.
  • Owning and resolving customer queries and complaints at their homes or places of work.
  • Supporting project work and leakage detection activities.
  • Investigating and resolving network performance issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and water quality standards.

The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:

  • Full UK licence as travelling between sites will be required; a company van will be provided.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • An enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
  • Confidence at completing hands-on tasks independently to the best of your ability.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Basic knowledge of domestic plumbing or water mains/leakage would be desirable.
