Network Specialist Opportunity in HSCP eHealth Team
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the HSCP eHealth team for a Network Specialist. The post holder will work within a small established, proficient IT support team to provide a specialised high level networking service to the HSCP covering all aspects of our data network and associated systems.
The post holder is responsible for the management and upgrading of NHS Highland's network hardware (switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure and telephony) including all hospitals, general practices and other health care sites within the HSCP, installation and de-commissioning as well as firewall management and network infrastructure security. This will involve working closely with other NHS Scotland health boards, public bodies and partners, plus Argyll & Bute Council ICT networking team when required.

- Educated to degree / HND or equivalent level
- At least five years experience in a similar role
- Working within large corporate network environments is essential
- Thorough understanding of large scale network design, network protocols, cyber security controls, infrastructure hardware
- Proven hands-on experience of complex network trouble shooting
- Regular travel across the HSCP and throughout NHS Highland when required
- Periods of unsocial hours working
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with NHS Scotland health boards, public bodies, and partners
- Work with Argyll & Bute Council ICT networking team when necessary
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive data
- Support major change of working practice through training, support, and organisational development
Skills
- Excellent communication skills in dealing with demanding users and advising eHealth management
- Advising on the use of IT services, major incidents, and meeting new requirements within the eHealth Digital Delivery Plan

Travel
- A clean full UK driving license is required as a considerable amount of travelling around the Argyll & Bute HSCP and NHS Highland areas is necessary to carry out the duties associated with this post, although use of pool cars is frequently possible.
