Network & Systems Engineer - Watford - DBS Check Required for Successful Candidate!

£52,000 | Permanent | Onsite | Excellent Benefits Package | Training & Development

Experis are working with a client in the Education Sector based in Watford who are looking to recruit an experienced Network & Systems Engineer into their established IT team.

This is a broad, hands-on Network Engineer role supporting a "Cisco Platform" within a "Microsoft Landscape", with a particular emphasis on strong Cisco networking experience.

This is a "Network Engineer Role" first and foremost! MS Infrastructure Engineer second!

The successful candidate will support a business-critical infrastructure environment and work across a mixture of on-premise and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain Cisco network infrastructure
  • Provide 3rd line support across server and network environments
  • LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi technologies, IP telephony systems, firewalls, and systems architecture.
  • Hyper-V, Microsoft 365 / Azure, backup Technologies, Active Directory
  • Support Windows Server and Active Directory technologies
  • Support Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Manage and troubleshoot firewalls and wider network security technologies
  • Support backup, recovery and core infrastructure services
  • Investigate incidents and complete root-cause analysis
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, projects and continuous improvement activity
  • Work closely with wider IT teams and third-party suppliers where required

What We're Looking For

  • Around 5+ years' recent Network / Infrastructure Engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on Cisco networking knowledge, ideally at approximately CCNP level
  • Strong Windows Server and Active Directory experience
  • Good firewall knowledge
  • Experience working with Azure
  • Broad enterprise infrastructure experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable remaining technically hands-on
  • Full Drivers License

A current CCNP qualification would be beneficial, although recent practical Cisco experience is more important than certification alone.
