About the Role
First Orion UK Limited is a fast-growing, privately held company focused on eliminating scam and nuisance calls across telecommunications networks. Headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas (USA), First Orion is seeking a Communications Network Engineer based in the United Kingdom who will report to the Associate Director, Application Support.
The Telecommunications Network Engineer is a full-time, permanent employee position and will be responsible for implementing and monitoring infrastructure used in First Orion telecommunication solutions.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Testing, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining REST API solutions
- Testing, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining SIP telecommunication solutions
- Assist in tuning performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure
- Developing test automation frameworks in collaboration with the rest of the team
- Issue troubleshooting, tracking and analysis for patterns and resolution
- Support and validation of deployments, upgrades, and maintenance activities
- On Call Rotation for Tier 3 support
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of support infrastructure and First Orion solutions
What you’ll need:
- Industry experience with REST API, SIP, IP, Routing, Firewall, Monitoring
- Basic knowledge of AWS infrastructure, including ECS, Cloudwatch, S3, and network routing.
- Network Protocol Analysis (Wireshark, Opnet, Gigamon, etc) – ability to dissect network telecommunication protocols over IP
- Experience testing and diagnosing issues on Linux servers. TCPDUMP, CURL, and other OS based tools.
- Good communication skills
- Technical skill set to implement and maintain operational solutions for monitoring, alerting, and tracking issues.
- Strong analytical skills to perform effective troubleshooting
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-stress environment, independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and work product validation
- Team player able to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders across the company
- Change management in complex environments

Bonus Points:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related area of study
- 5+ years of industry experience focused on telecommunications support and system administration
- Experience maintaining large-scale implementations
- Linux Shell Scripting (CSH, KSH, BASH, etc)
- Data-Driven Scripting (awk, sed, etc)
- Data Bricks experience
Work Schedule
This role primarily follows UK business hours. Due to First Orion’s global operations, occasional early starts (as early as 6:00 AM UK time) are required to support overnight maintenance windows and service escalations aligned with US Central Time. There is an on-call rotation that takes place once per month. Business-hours escalations are supported through a shared resource model.
Salary will be £28,200-£52,800 depending upon experience.
