Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Regularly downloading, analysing and validating departmental performance reports provided by the Information Management team.
• Using Microsoft Excel and other Trust reporting systems to review, manipulate and validate large datasets, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient pathway information.
• Assisting in the completion of monthly data validation exercises and supporting the delivery of data quality improvement initiatives.
• Identifying, investigating and resolving uncashed outpatient appointments in a timely manner.
• Reviewing and correcting admission dates and other pathway events that have been incorrectly recorded or remain outstanding.
• Monitoring patients whose waiting times have exceeded national or local targets, verifying that pathway information has been recorded accurately and supporting appropriate action to progress patient care.
• Reviewing care pathways where information is incomplete, inaccurate or missing, and obtaining the required information from clinicians, administrative teams and other stakeholders.
• Producing and maintaining spreadsheets, reports and data tracking tools to support pathway management, performance monitoring and service improvement.
• Presenting validated performance information and data quality findings to administrative and management teams as required.
• Assisting staff within the department in the effective use of Careflow and other patient administration systems, helping to prevent data quality issues from arising.
• Supporting clinicians and operational teams in understanding and resolving pathway discrepancies and data quality concerns.
• Assisting with other data quality, validation and performance issues affecting the department, as required.
• Taking responsibility for the effective management and monitoring of patient pathways to ensure compliance with RTT and other national waiting time standards.
• Providing support and training to new members of staff in relation to patient pathway management, data quality processes and system usage, as required.
• Ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at all times, in accordance with Trust policies, GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
• Working flexibly in response to the needs of the service, including providing cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave or absence.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant Trust policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Confidentiality, Data Protection, Risk Management and Sickness Absence policies.
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade of the post, as agreed with the line manager.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Educated to GCSE/A level standard (including English and Maths) or equivalent e.g. relevant NVQ or demonstrate relevant experience
• Knowledge Microsoft office packages, including Outlook, Excel and word

Experience

Essential criteria

• Previous experience working in a data validator role
• Experience using RTT within Careflow
• Experience managing waiting lists

Desirable criteria

• Previous validation experience in a Neurosurgical, Spines and Pain specialty

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Demonstrable sound knowledge of the BNSSG RTT Policy and its application within elective patient pathway management.
• Sound knowledge using Power BI to analyse, interpret & present performance data
• Understanding of elective care performance targets, including RTT breaches and validation processes

Desirable criteria

• Ability to interpret complex clinical information
