This role will be titled internally as Special Projects Lead, and is a part of our Special Projects Team.

⭐Our Special Projects team

You will be part of a small and high impact team of commercially minded, strategic, and analytically driven generalists. We shape and deliver trajectory-changing and business outcome focused projects across teams and at the Monzo level for C-Suite, GMs and senior stakeholders in the different parts of our business like Core Banking, Borrowing, Wealth, Business Banking, Operations, etc.

To succeed, you should be excited about solving tough, ambiguous business problems with analytical rigour, commercial viability and execution effectiveness. You’ll be working on a wide range of projects, collaborating with partners and colleagues across areas like product, data and marketing; operating in a high pace and ambiguous environment.

Examples of projects our team delivers include: seeding new products and business lines, delivering business transformation initiatives, expansion into new geographies, super-charging product growth, M&A, and high-impact partnerships.

We'd want you to apply if you are underwhelmed by the status quo of banking and finance today and are interested in bringing your brainpower, commercial and quantitative skills and grit to creating something better.

🔑You’ll play a key role by…

  • Leading and executing trajectory changing, cross-functional projects that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Engaging C-suite, GMs and other senior stakeholders to build the cross-functional influence required to drive strategic decision-making or unblock high-impact initiatives across the business.
  • Collaborating with senior stakeholders and teams across product, marketing, operations, and engineering to problem solve jointly and deliver initiatives successfully.
  • Identifying opportunities to optimise processes, drive efficiencies, and enhance project outcomes across Monzo.
  • Driving problem solving, research and data gathering to inform business cases, go/no go decisions and influence strategy setting across the business.
  • Owning analysing data, customer needs, market, competitive insights and commercial analyses to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Developing and tracking project plans, KPIs, and success metrics, ensuring timely progress and measurable results.
  • Scaling team impact and performance by supporting talent development and staffing strategy, whether through direct management or high-impact coaching.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
