Job Title: New Business Account Handler

Salary: £40,000

Location: Warwickshire – Hybrid

PURPOSE OF ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a New Business Account Handler to join a growing insurance team. This varied role will support the New Business function by managing website-generated enquiries, coordinating administration and assisting with the preparation of quotations and market submissions. Working closely with New Business Executives, you will help ensure prospective clients receive a high standard of service while keeping enquiries moving through the sales process. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a combination of client interaction, insurance administration and working within a fast-paced team. There is also genuine long-term career progression available, with the opportunity to develop into a New Business Executive position in the future.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the initial point of contact for new business enquiries received through the website.
  • Gather relevant client information and complete initial fact-finding.
  • Manage enquiries from the initial contact through to completion.
  • Support New Business Executives with risk presentations and insurer market submissions.
  • Obtain quotations through insurer portals, Acturis eTrade and manual submissions.
  • Liaise with insurers to secure competitive terms, quotations and supporting information.
  • Maintain strong relationships with insurers and prospective clients.
  • Ensure all client information is accurate, complete and compliant.
  • Keep Acturis and other internal systems updated throughout the sales process.
  • Assist with client onboarding, policy documentation, invoicing and premium finance administration.
  • Monitor enquiry pipelines and provide updates on progress, conversion opportunities and outstanding actions.
  • Support management information, reporting and new business performance tracking.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies within the team.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Managing a portfolio of online new business enquiries and ensuring they progress efficiently.
  • Contacting prospective clients to gather information and understand their insurance requirements.
  • Preparing quotations and supporting New Business Executives with submissions to insurers.
  • Chasing outstanding information from clients and insurers to keep enquiries moving.
  • Coordinating diaries, follow-up activity and pipeline administration.
  • Updating Acturis and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting the onboarding of new clients, including documentation, invoicing and premium finance arrangements.
  • Building positive relationships with prospective clients and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ensuring all activity is completed in line with FCA requirements, internal procedures and compliance standards.
  • Working collaboratively with the New Business team to help generate and convert new opportunities.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience within the insurance industry, ideally in a broking, account handling or new business environment.
  • Experience dealing with client enquiries and gathering information to support insurance quotations.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance products and the quotation process would be advantageous.
  • Experience using Acturis, insurer portals or Acturis eTrade would be beneficial.
  • A background in insurance administration, account handling or sales support is desirable.
  • Experience managing multiple enquiries and prioritising workloads.
  • A willingness to learn and develop towards a New Business Executive position.

SKILLS

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of enquiries.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Confident liaising with clients, insurers and internal colleagues.
  • Good understanding of insurance processes and compliance requirements.
  • Comfortable working with systems, records and administrative processes.
  • Team player with a positive and professional approach.
  • Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in developing new business.
  • Ambition to progress and develop within the insurance industry.
