Ready for more responsibility? Come and grow with us.

Maybe you're an Account or Sales Exec, Restaurant Manager, Junior Account Manager or former Chef who's got some solid years under your belt and you're ready for more.

  • More ownership.
  • More say.
  • More time with customers.
  • More opportunity to make decisions rather than waiting for someone else to make them.

Ideally, you've spent some time in hospitality, restaurants, foodservice, catering, food wholesale or the wider food industry.

Maybe you've worked front of house and discovered you're commercially minded. Or you're already selling food or drink and want to get closer to the product.

We're looking for someone commercially switched on, good with people and genuinely excited about great food to join Jones, the Butcher as we grow.

You don't need to be a butcher. You don't need to know every cut, muscle or breed on day one either.

What we do want is someone who's properly interested in the product and wants to learn.

The aim is to take you from meat fan to meat expert.

What matters most is that you:

  • Love food and have a genuine interest in great produce.
  • Enjoy talking to customers and building relationships.
  • Have good commercial instinct.
  • Are confident enough to pick up the phone and start a conversation.
  • Are organised and can keep a few plates spinning.
  • Take ownership rather than waiting to be chased.
  • Want to learn and ask questions when you don't know something.
  • Don't mind getting your hands dirty occasionally.
  • Are ambitious and looking for a role you can grow into.
  • And ideally you've got a bit of personality; we're building relationships with people, not sending automated sales sequences.

A Bit About Us

Jones, the Butcher has been in the meat game since 1962.

We're a family-run, independent wholesale butcher supplying brilliant meat, poultry, game and deli products to customers across hospitality, foodservice, retail and food production.

We're proud of our history, but we're very much looking forward.

We're growing, we're ambitious and we're building a team that wants to come on that journey with us.

We're not a huge corporate where your job fits neatly into one little box. You'll get exposure to different parts of the business, work closely with the people making the decisions and have plenty of opportunity to make your mark.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Role

This is a commercial role with plenty of variety. A big part of your job will be looking after customers, growing accounts and finding new ones.

But we don't want you selling from a spreadsheet. We want you to understand the product, the customer and what happens behind the scenes to get an order out of the door.

You'll spend time with our butchers and production teams, learn about cuts, specs, yields, provenance and quality. You'll get out and meet chefs, buyers and customers. And you'll start understanding the commercial side of meat from end to end.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, so will your responsibility. One day you might be visiting a customer to talk through their range, another you'll be working with the team on a new product, sorting out a customer issue or figuring out what we can offer instead when something isn't available.

There will be busy days and occasional curveballs. That's wholesale.

But you'll have a good team around you, plenty of support and the freedom to start taking real ownership.

What You'll Get Stuck Into

Look After & Grow Customers

You'll take ownership of a group of customer accounts and build proper relationships with them. Get to know their businesses; understand what they buy and why, spot opportunities to introduce new products or grow their range. And become someone they actually want to pick up the phone to.

Find New Business

We want someone who's comfortable getting out there.

You'll help identify potential customers, start conversations, arrange meetings, put together quotes and turn opportunities into business.

You need confidence, curiosity and a bit of hunger.

Learn the Trade

This is a big part of the job.

You'll spend time learning from people who've worked with meat for years and get to understand things like:

  • Specs, portioning, different cuts and how they're used.
  • Breeds and provenance.
  • Ageing and maturation.
  • Yield and carcass balance.
  • Quality and consistency.
  • What chefs actually want from a product.
  • What makes one piece of meat worth more than another.

We expect you to want to know it all. Ask questions. Taste things. Get onto the production floor. Talk to the butchers. Visit suppliers. Speak to chefs. Get curious.

Over time, we want you to become someone customers trust for their product knowledge, not just their price list.

Solve Problems

It's wholesale food. Things don't always go exactly to plan.

A product might be unavailable; A customer might suddenly need twice as much; A chef might want a different spec; Something might turn up that isn't quite right.

You'll work with the team to find the answer and keep the customer happy.

We want someone who learns to think on their feet rather than just passing problems up the chain.

Help Us Get Better

We're a growing SME, which means there are always things we can improve.

If you spot something that doesn't make sense, say it; If you've got an idea, bring it.

You'll work closely with the management team and get exposure to new products, pricing, sales strategy, customer experience and how the wider business operates.

What This Role Could Become

We're deliberately looking for someone with room to grow.

You'll come in with support, but we don't want to hold your hand forever. As you prove yourself, you'll get more autonomy, bigger customers and more involvement in the commercial side of the business.

You'll build your product knowledge, develop your network and learn the meat trade properly.

And you'll have the opportunity to grow from an executive-level position into someone capable of owning accounts, winning business and playing a meaningful part in where Jones, the Butcher goes next.

What You'll Get

  • Salary: From £45k
  • Performance bonus: linked to company performance, new business and account growth.
  • Hybrid working: typically three days with us in our London office and two days getting out to see the customers.
  • 28 days holiday, including our Christmas shutdown.
  • Meat at cost.
  • Proper hands-on training in meat, products and the trade.
  • Direct exposure to the founders and senior team.
  • Real responsibility as you develop.
  • Plenty of room to make the role your own.
