GreenSpark Environmental Sales Role
GreenSpark protects the environment around our customers’ sites. We stop pollution reaching drains, watercourses and groundwater, keep customers on the right side of their environmental and discharge obligations, and reduce the risk of flooding and contamination. Since 2010 we have built a reputation with some of the UK’s best known multi-site operators in logistics, automotive and forecourts, facilities management, airports, local government and property.
In April we became the founding business of SoFlow Service Partners, a buy and build platform backed by Strada Partners. SoFlow is bringing together regional leaders in drainage, tankerage, pump maintenance and environmental compliance into a single national champion, with the aim of reaching £100m+ revenue over the next five years. Acquisitions are one half of that plan. The other half is organic growth, and organic growth starts with winning customers who have never worked with us.
That is this job. You are the hunter. You find new customers, open the door, win the first order and hand them to the team who will look after and grow them. Then you go and find the next one. If you enjoy meeting people, earning their trust and seeing every win visibly move a fast-growing business, this role is for you.
Why this role matters
Environmental regulation is tightening, and regulators and water companies are looking harder at what leaves commercial sites. That is where GreenSpark comes in. To meet that demand we are building a sales team to scale with the Group, and you will be one of its first hires. Behind you sits our Head of Sales, an Account Management team and a national Delivery operation whose job is to run, protect and grow each customer once you have won it. That split is deliberate. It means your time goes on new conversations, not on running accounts.
What you’ll accomplish in your first year
- Build a pipeline from scratch
- Build and own a hit list of target organisations across your sectors and territory, researched properly: who holds the budget, who carries the compliance risk and when their current contracts renew.
- Generate most of your own pipeline through sustained outbound prospecting by phone, email, LinkedIn, events, facilities management partners and referrals.
- Book first meetings every week with organisations that don’t yet use GreenSpark. Activity is the leading indicator, and you will own it.
- Win new customers
- Lead site visits and discovery with prospects, working with our technical people to find the compliance gaps, service failures and risks that others have missed.
- Turn what you find into a clear commercial case to switch, then price, propose, negotiate and close.
- Seek out tenders and frameworks that open the door to new customers, directly and through facilities management providers.
- Land new customers every quarter, on recurring contracts wherever you can.
- Hand over cleanly and move on
- Pass each new customer to Account Management within the first month of its first order, and no later than the end of that quarter.
- Hand over the full picture: scope sold, contacts, site details, commercial terms and the wider estate opportunity you can see.
- Sell only what we can deliver, at the margin we need, so Delivery can trust everything you bring in.
- Run a disciplined sales engine
- Keep Simpro accurate and current, with a dated next step on every live opportunity.
- Forecast honestly. Know which deals are real, and say early when one isn’t.
- Report weekly on prospecting, first meetings, pipeline and wins, and bring a point of view to monthly business reviews.
- Share what is working, whether that’s a sector, a message or a route in, so the team gets sharper as it grows.
- Be GreenSpark’s face in the market
- Represent us at industry events, roadshows and partner meetings.
- Build a reputation in the sector as someone who understands environmental compliance and is trusted to deliver against clear objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you bring
The strongest candidate will bring most of the following:
Experience
- A proven record of winning new customers in B2B services, consistently meeting or beating new business targets. We will ask for the numbers.
- Real outbound experience. You have built your own pipeline from cold, rather than living off inbound leads or inherited accounts.
- Confidence with operations, estates, environmental and procurement stakeholders, whether that’s on site in hi-vis or across a boardroom table.
- Experience of consultative selling to multi-site organisations with high-profile brands, and of closing.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- The ability to write a clear proposal and price work with commercial discipline.
- Experience in facilities, maintenance, environmental or compliance services is a strong advantage. Knowledge of drainage, interceptors or discharge consents is a bonus, not a requirement. We will teach you the technical side.
- An existing network in logistics, automotive, facilities management, airports or property, and experience of tenders, frameworks or selling through FM providers, will help you hit the ground running.

Mindset and character
- New business at heart. You get your energy from the first meeting and the first order, and you are happy to let others run the account once it is won.

- Competitive and self-driven. You set your own pace and don’t need chasing.
- Curious. You ask good questions, spot the real problem and shape the right solution.
- Organised. High activity never means chaos: every opportunity has a next step and a date, and you are comfortable living in a CRM.
- Trusted. People buy from you because you listen, do what you say and follow through.
- Straight. You forecast honestly, sell what we can deliver and keep your word with customers and colleagues.
- Purposeful. Your work helps keep pollution out of rivers and groundwater. We would like that to matter to you.
- Ambitious. You want to grow with a business set to become the national leader in its field, and to take the opportunities that come with it.
