Business Development Manager / Account Manager – Secure UK Government & Defence
Location: UK based, ideally South / Central England
Salary: £90-105K basic, double OTE, company car and excellent benefits package
Clearance: Current SC as a minimum. DV / STRAP highly advantageous.
I am supporting a highly respected global technology business that provides advanced network visibility, cybersecurity, service assurance, and performance management solutions into complex enterprise and public sector environments.
They are now looking for an experienced public sector technology sales professional to manage and grow secure UK Government and Defence account sets.
About the Role
The focus is on strategic account growth, new business development, and relationship building across high-value government environments, including areas such as Central Government, Defence, MOD, justice, secure government departments, defence contractors, and critical national infrastructure.

Key Experience Required:
- 5+ years’ technology sales experience across networking, cybersecurity, infrastructure, service assurance, or enterprise IT
- Strong experience selling into secure UK Government, Defence, Central Government, or related public sector accounts
- Current SC clearance as a minimum, with DV / STRAP highly desirable
- Proven record of quota achievement, pipeline development, and account growth
- Strong understanding of government procurement, complex sales cycles, and multi-stakeholder engagement
- Experience selling directly to customers, with support from channel partners, Sales Engineers, and technical teams where appropriate
- Ability to build trusted relationships across senior, technical, commercial, and operational stakeholders
- Strong new business / hunter mindset, with the credibility to open and grow strategic accounts
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required
Responsibilities:
- Owning and developing sales activity across assigned secure UK Government accounts
- Building relationships with senior public sector, defence, and technical stakeholders
- Identifying, pursuing, and closing new and existing account opportunities
- Positioning solutions across network visibility, cybersecurity, service assurance, and digital resilience
- Working closely with Sales Engineers, partners, and internal technical teams
- Managing complex sales cycles from initial engagement through to close
- Maintaining accurate forecasting, account planning, and pipeline management
