Our client is one of the UK's fastest-growing retail businesses, with a significant national presence and ambitious plans for continued growth.
As part of that growth, they are looking for a New Business Lead to join their Marketplace team at their Plymouth Head Office.
This is a commercial role focused on identifying, attracting and onboarding new sellers to the marketplace. You'll build relationships with brands and suppliers, identify growth opportunities and help expand product choice for customers.

The role
You'll be responsible for growing the marketplace by sourcing and onboarding high-quality sellers across a range of product categories.
Working closely with the Marketplace Manager and wider business teams, you'll ensure new sellers are successfully introduced to the platform and set up for long-term success.
Key responsibilities include
- Identifying and recruiting new marketplace sellers in line with business priorities
- Building and managing a pipeline of prospective sellers
- Developing and delivering seller acquisition plans
- Researching market trends, competitor activity and category opportunities
- Approaching, engaging and pitching to prospective sellers
- Managing the full sales cycle from initial contact through to agreement
- Conducting seller assessments and compliance checks
- Supporting new sellers throughout the onboarding process
- Ensuring products are listed accurately and within agreed timescales
- Building positive relationships with sellers during their first few months on the platform
- Working with internal teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience
- Handing over established sellers to the Account Management team
- Representing the business at trade shows, industry events and webinars
- Monitoring and reporting on key performance measures including acquisition activity and account performance

About you
We're looking for someone who can build relationships, spot commercial opportunities and deliver results.

You'll ideally have
- Experience in business development, sales, account acquisition or partnerships
- A track record of generating and converting new business opportunities
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to build credibility with business owners and senior decision-makers
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confidence using data and market insights to identify opportunities
- Experience within ecommerce, online marketplaces or retail would be beneficial
