Position overview
Reporting to the Head of New Business, the New Business Manager will contribute to increasing our income position through effective sales development activity and the creation of cross-sale initiatives across our ancillary product range.
Essential Job Functions
New business activity
- Lead generation activity to generate new business opportunities across the entirety of our product range, including target list development and management
- Identifying cross-sale opportunities across all product ranges, including; Legal Expenses Insurance, Home Emergency and other Ancillary insurance lines. This will include working closely with the Commercial team to support expansion of existing relationships.
- Engaging with appointed consultants to identify opportunities
- Contributing towards income development strategy
- Maintaining up to date records of all new business prospects and pipeline business
- Management of new business opportunities, including:
- Attending client-facing sales meetings and presentations (remotely where required)
- Creating an initial proposition and proposal for underwriters to review and produce full proposal
- Preparing and submitting signed-off proposals to clients through bespoke proposal documents and/or client presentations as considered appropriate.
- Working with the Partnership Manager throughout the implementation process and ensure a smooth transition
General
- To carry out all work in accordance with agreed service standards and FCA regulations
- Comply with procedures, policies and regulations as relevant to remit.
- Ensure you complete all mandatory and job specific training requirements in line with the required time frames.
- Complete the required number of hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as it pertains to your role and applicable qualifications and ensure this is logged in Workday.
- Fully participate in all applicable fitness and proprietary and Performance Review processes.
- Promptly advise your line manager/HR as to any matter that may be relevant and/or impact your ability to perform in your role.
- Other duties may be assigned in order to meet the on-going needs of the organisation

Qualifications, Experience and Competence
Experience and Functional/Technical Competencies
Education / Key Skills
- Strong background in B2B insurance sales, and regularly meeting and exceeding sales targets. This can include selling to Insurers, MGAs, Insurance Brokers, and other Affinity Groups (e.g. Banks/Building Societies)
- Sound Commercial knowledge and awareness with a strategic vision to develop and deliver long-term strategic plans.
- An income driven mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
- An ability to influence and communicate with confidence at senior levels
- ‘Art of the Possible’ and ‘Outside the box thinking’ which leads to an innovative and collaborative culture.
- Collaborate with others to achieve goals and make decisions to enhance business effectiveness.
- Analyse and resolve problems quickly.

Essential
- Experience of B2B sales management within insurance industry, e.g. Insurers, MGAs, Insurance Brokers, and other Affinity Groups (e.g. Banks/Building Societies)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent organisational and time keeping skills
- Confidence to own tasks without supervision
- Experience of using all Microsoft Office programs - specifically with knowledge and confidence of working on Excel
Desirable
- Good investigative and research skills
- Working knowledge of ancillary insurance products such as Legal Expenses Insurance or Home Emergency for example
