HGV Driver - Class 1 / Category CE - New Pass Welcome

New Pass HGV Drivers Welcome

Cotteswold Dairy is looking for HGV Drivers to join our busy Transport Department in Tewkesbury. We are especially keen to hear from newly qualified HGV drivers who have recently passed their test and are looking for the right company to help them build confidence, experience and long-term driving skills.

If you are a new pass driver, this is an opportunity to learn in a structured, legal and safe environment, with support from experienced transport professionals who understand that every confident driver starts somewhere.

We currently have opportunities for both LGV C / Class 2 and LGV C+E / Class 1 drivers. You may be offered a Class 2 position initially if we feel this would best support your development, confidence and future progression into Class 1 work.

About Cotteswold Dairy

Cotteswold Dairy is one of the UK’s leading independent, family-owned dairies. From our Tewkesbury site, our Transport team plays a vital role in delivering fresh dairy products to customers, wholesale buyers and depots across the UK.

This is a busy, fast-moving environment where safety, reliability and great customer service matter. Whether you are an experienced HGV Driver or newly qualified and ready to take your first proper step into professional driving, we will give you the support and structure to grow.

The Role - HGV Driver

As an HGV Driver at Cotteswold Dairy, you will be responsible for delivering fresh dairy products in a temperature-controlled, multi-drop delivery environment. You will help ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately and on time, while representing the business in a professional and customer-focused manner.

You will be part of a supportive Transport team, with training and guidance provided to help you understand our routes, vehicles, systems, customers and legal responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate HGV vehicles in line with UK driving laws and company procedures
  • Complete multi-drop deliveries of dairy products to customers and depots
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
  • Follow tachograph, Driver CPC and working time regulations
  • Load and unload products safely, including manual handling where required
  • Maintain product quality, stock rotation and temperature-controlled delivery standards
  • Use handheld units or manual systems to record deliveries, returns and payments where applicable
  • Keep your vehicle clean, tidy and roadworthy
  • Follow health and safety, food hygiene and security procedures at all times
  • Provide excellent customer service as the face of Cotteswold Dairy

What We’re Looking For

  • Full UK driving licence with Category C or Category CE entitlement
  • Driver CPC qualification
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Newly qualified and experienced drivers welcome
  • Confidence to work night shifts and weekends as part of the roster
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Reliability, flexibility and a professional approach
  • Physically fit and able to complete manual handling tasks

Interview and Driving Assessment

Our interview process includes a driving assessment and a sit-down interview. You will need to bring your driving licence, Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph Card with you.

The full process will take around two hours in total. For new pass drivers, this is also an opportunity for us to understand your confidence level, experience so far and the support you may need to succeed in the role.
