The Role
In this role you will work as a member of the team, responsible for the hearing screening of all newborn babies born or resident in Lanarkshire, under the supervision of the Audiology Deputy Service Manager. You will collect/record accurately all clinical and test data relevant to the screening process and provide test outcomes in a sympathetic manner to parents/carers.
The post holder may be asked to undertake other reasonable duties such as working within the wider Audiology Service.
The working pattern for this role is: 7 days a week - 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm
In This Key Role, You Will
- Provide a high quality hearing screening service in accordance with national and local guidelines
- Ensure a family friendly approach by providing a professional and caring attitude throughout the screening process
- Maintain the confidentiality of the babies and their families at all times
- Ensure parental anxiety is kept to a minimum throughout the screening process by providing appropriate information to the family

What You'll Bring
- SVQ III in health or social care or equivalent experience working in the role
- Commitment to complete a four-week practical training programme delivered by the Audiology Deputy Service Manager and the Screening Supervisor
- Knowledge of ear anatomy and different types of hearing loss
- Knowledge of Otoacoustic Emission Testing
- Knowledge of Automated Auditory Brainstem Response Testing
- Competent with Hearing Screening Management System to record all screening results
- Understanding of how each type of screening equipment works and how to use them properly
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence with ability to travel between locations in a timely manner.
