THE ROLE
fscom is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented newly qualified Management Accountant to join our dynamic team and company. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your qualification and take ownership of core financial operations within the professional services sector, working alongside experienced finance professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment. The Management Accountant will play a key role in the finance team, taking responsibility for the monthly management accounts and continuing to develop through increasing exposure to wider corporate services projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
With support from our expert team, you will:
- Prepare monthly management accounts to draft stage, including full monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts across all companies in the group and posting of monthly nominal journals.
- Draft the monthly revenue recognition journal and reconcile of accrued and deferred Revenue for trading companies.
- Process intercompany transactions, including Intercompany interest and reconcile the intercompany position at month end.
- Monitor and report both financial and non-financial metrics to senior management and Board level.
- Manage the accounts payable function to ensure correct cut-off at month end and confirm that all accruals are correctly identified.
- Manage the accounts receivable function, ensuring correct cut-off for invoicing and taking an active role in credit control, managing outstanding debts with project managers.
- Contribute to payroll and staff expense processing, ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
- Monitor departmental budgets, investigating and communicating all variances in a timely manner.
- Provide external audit support, preparing requested information and ensuring data is complete, accurate, and readily accessible for external auditors.
- Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records, ensuring all transactions are correctly coded, documented, and posted.
- Carry out bank reconciliations and assist in monitoring cash flow to support effective financial management.
- Support the day-to-day financial administration, including processing invoices, expenses, receipts, and other routine transactions.
- Undertake ad hoc finance tasks and wider Corporate Services projects, gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting and administrative responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

- A 2.1 or above degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Newly qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA (or equivalent), or finalist expecting to qualify shortly.
- Practical accounting or finance experience, including exposure to management accounts, ideally gained in a similar role.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.
- Professional and confidential approach to handling sensitive information.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Demonstrates a keen interest in GRC or corporate finance.
- Experience working within a professional services business.
- Experience in using Xero or CMAP.
