About the Role

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking newly qualified, quality-focused, and patient-centred Operating Department Practitioners (awaiting pin registration) to join our Elective theatre team in main theatres. This role supports our vision of high-quality surgical care and interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside and communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Actively contribute to assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
  • Work as a member of theatre teams on circulating scrub and/or anaesthetic duties.
  • Provide opportunities to gain experience and further training in both areas as your registration supports.

Requirements

  • Committed to providing a high standard of patient care.
  • Demonstrate motivation, enthusiasm, and consideration of financial importance.
  • Cover elective activity, working Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00.
  • Contribute to on-call commitments.
  • Work alongside the Anaesthetist or Surgeon to provide first-class, patient-centred anaesthetic or surgical care.
  • Work in accordance with the ‘Codes of Professional Conduct’ (HCPC) and ensure practices reach the required professional standard.
  • Provide the correct surgical instruments and materials to the surgeon.
  • Be responsible for all surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs during the operation.
  • Act as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the theatre and hospital.
  • Anticipate the requirements of the surgical team and respond effectively to ensure all required instrumentation and equipment are available at the appropriate time.
  • As a newly registered practitioner, be a responsible and compassionate patient advocate and act in their best interest at all times.
