Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented journalist to step into a key leadership role at the Bucks Free Press, one of Newsquest’s leading weekly titles.

This is an ideal next step for a senior reporter ready to progress, or an ambitious journalist looking to build the skills needed to become an editor.

We are looking for a news editor or first-class reporter to help shape the agenda of a long-established and respected title with a growing digital audience.

You will play a central role in leading the newsroom day-to-day - driving coverage, reporting on the biggest news, supporting reporters and ensuring we deliver the best possible journalism across all platforms.

You’ll be joining a strong, supportive team and following in the footsteps of our departing Audience and Content Editor, who has been promoted to the Oxford Mail.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
