News Technology Specialist – Video Team

Location: London, UK (4 days in-office, flexibility for remote where possible) Employment Type: Full-time About the Role

The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Independent journalism is at the heart of everything we do. Our world-renowned newsroom sends journalists globally to report from nearly 160 countries, blending print, audio, and digital storytelling—including exceptional video journalism.

We’re expanding our video journalism – capturing compelling visual stories with our team, producing live updates, on-the-ground reports, Visual Investigations, and video podcasts. To support this growth, we’re looking for a News Technology Specialist to ensure smooth technical workflows in London and across our worldwide video department.

You’ll work directly with video journalists, producers, and editors to troubleshoot technical challenges, train teams on post-production systems, and streamline workflows for quality, efficiency, and innovation. This involves:

  • Troubleshooting software, cameras, audio equipment, and cloud-based tools
  • Assisting live video shoots, broadcast feeds, and remote interviews
  • Ensuring accurate video ingesting, transcoding, archiving, and distribution
  • Developing and implementing best practices to support journalism and meet business needs
  • Maintaining studio equipment and cross-departmental coordination (London, Seoul, New York)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
