Role Description
The NGS Intern will support next-generation sequencing (NGS) projects, focusing on data processing, quality control, and preliminary analysis for genomics and metagenomics studies. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with pipeline execution for WGS, RNA-Seq, and amplicon sequencing datasets, organizing and documenting datasets, and preparing summary reports and visualizations under the guidance of senior scientists. The intern will collaborate with computational biologists to refine workflows, troubleshoot basic issues in data analysis, and contribute to project documentation and research presentations. This is an internship role, based on-site in the London Area, United Kingdom, with opportunities to learn industry-standard tools and practices in NGS and computational biology.

Qualifications

- Foundational knowledge of genomics, NGS technologies (e.g., WGS, RNA-Seq, amplicon sequencing), and basic molecular biology concepts.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and workflows (e.g., sequence alignment, variant calling, quality control, basic command-line usage).
- Ability to manage and document datasets, maintain clear records, and contribute to structured reports and presentations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a research environment.
- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Interest in metagenomics, microbiome analysis, and in-silico drug discovery pipelines is beneficial.
- Willingness to learn new tools and methods, adapt to project needs, and work on-site in the London Area, United Kingdom.
