Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role will be within our Demand management and network infrastructure team. We look after 60 million meters and our teams provide advanced metering solutions to help manage demand for essential suppliers.

What will you be doing?

As a Non-Household Metering Supervisor, you'll play a key role in leading the delivery of Southern Water's metering programme across Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. You'll oversee the day-to-day operations of a team of engineers and plumbers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements.

You'll be responsible for driving team performance, monitoring productivity and ensuring all service level agreements (SLAs), compliance standards and performance targets are consistently achieved. Championing a strong safety culture, you'll ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant specifications, industry standards and company procedures.

Working across a varied portfolio of commercial and non-household customers, you'll also oversee metering activities at high-profile sites including hospitals and other critical water-dependent facilities, ensuring exceptional service delivery and minimal disruption to customers. Through effective leadership, planning and stakeholder management, you'll support your team to deliver outstanding operational performance across your region.

What You’ll Bring

  • Have you got proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role?
  • Do you have proven Plumbing experience? This will be required for the role as you'll be supporting and upskilling/training the Operatives.
  • Do you have strong leadership, analytical capability and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others?
  • Have you got strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment?
  • Are you someone who is a flexible team worker, and has the ability to work volumes under pressure?
  • Do you hold a valid UK driving licence?
  • Do you have demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols?
  • Have you got effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with operatives?
