SQL Data Warehouse Developer

The SQL Data Warehouse Developer will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of enterprise data warehouse solutions supporting Electronic Patient Record (EPR) implementations and digital transformation programmes.

The post-holder will provide specialist technical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server technologies, ETL development, data migration, reporting and healthcare data integration. A key aspect of the role is supporting the migration of patient, operational and clinical data from the Dedalus iPM Patient Administration System (PAS) into a new EPR platform while ensuring data quality, integrity and compliance.

The role will work closely with Data Migration, Technical, Integration, Testing, Clinical and Reporting teams to deliver data migration, validation, reconciliation and reporting requirements throughout the EPR programme lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Data Warehouse Development

  • Design, develop and maintain SQL Server data warehouse solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data marts supporting operational, performance and statutory reporting.
  • Produce technical documentation including data dictionaries, data lineage and solution designs.
  • Ensure data warehouse solutions adhere to NHS information standards and governance requirements.

ETL Development

  • Develop and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), T-SQL and associated technologies.
  • Build automated data extraction, transformation and loading routines from healthcare systems.
  • Develop scalable solutions for large-volume clinical and operational datasets.
  • Troubleshoot ETL failures and optimise performance.

EPR Data Migration

  • Support end-to-end EPR data migration activities from legacy systems, including Dedalus iPM PAS.
  • Develop migration scripts, transformation logic and validation routines.
  • Perform data profiling, cleansing, mapping and reconciliation activities.
  • Support mock migrations, trial loads and cutover activities.
  • Work with clinical and operational SMEs to define migration rules and data quality requirements.
  • Assist in resolving migration defects identified during testing cycles.
  • Support migration sign-off and post-go-live data assurance.
