We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Children's Residential Support Workers to join our residential childcare team in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Whether you're already working as a Residential Support Worker, Children's Support Worker, Care Worker, Residential Care Practitioner, Youth Support Worker, Behaviour Support Worker, or Therapeutic Support Worker, or you have experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), we would love to hear from you.

About the Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll play an important part in the day-to-day care, safety, and wellbeing of the young people living in the home.
You'll provide consistent support, build positive and trusting relationships, encourage positive behaviour, and help young people develop the skills and confidence they need to progress.
Every young person is different, so you'll take a flexible and individualized approach, following their care plans and responding to their emotional, behavioural, and practical needs.
You'll work alongside colleagues, managers, and external professionals, ensuring that safeguarding procedures, care plans, and regulatory requirements are followed at all times.
This is a role where your patience, consistency, and compassion can have a lasting impact.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
- Creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing home environment
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Providing emotional support, encouragement, and positive role modelling
- Promoting positive behaviour through consistent boundaries and relationship-based care
- Carrying out welfare checks in line with individual care plans and risk assessments
- Responding appropriately to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and emergencies
- Supporting young people with their daily routines and individual needs
- Maintaining accurate records, reports, and shift handovers
- Carrying out security and fire safety checks to help maintain a safe environment
- Completing light household duties to keep the home clean, comfortable, and welcoming
- Supporting morning routines where required
- Working effectively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals
- Following Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding guidance, and organisational policies
- Contributing to positive outcomes and the ongoing development of each young person

Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from people with experience in a range of care, support, and youth-focused environments, including:
- Children's Residential Care
- Residential Childcare

- Care Assistant roles involving children or young people

- SEN or SEMH settings
- Foster Care
- Supported Accommodation
Previous experience working with children or young people is required, with children's residential care experience desirable.
You'll also bring:
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- An understanding of professional boundaries
- Strong written record-keeping skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
- A flexible, proactive, and child-centred approach
- A genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes
- Full UK driving licence – desirable

Working Hours & Conditions
This is a residential childcare role, so flexibility is essential.
You'll be required to work:
- Shift patterns on a rota basis
- Weekends and bank holidays where required
- Flexible hours to meet the needs of the home and young people
- Sleep-in shifts where required
- Participation in an on-call rota where applicable
- Occasional rota changes to ensure continuity and consistency of care
