Job Description

At Fairmont St Andrews, exceptional hospitality does not stop when the day ends.

We are looking for an experienced Night Manager to lead the overnight operation of our luxury five-star resort and ensure our guests, colleagues and hotel are looked after throughout the night.

This is a significant operational leadership position. As the most senior manager within the hotel overnight, the Night Manager will have full responsibility for the operation of the property in the absence of our daytime Executive and Departmental leadership teams.

Your area of responsibility will extend far beyond Front Office. You will provide leadership and operational oversight across Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Front Office and Loss Prevention acting as the key decision-maker for the hotel and ensuring our standards of service, safety and security are maintained throughout the night.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Take full operational responsibility for the hotel throughout the overnight period
  • Act as the senior Manager on Duty and primary decision-maker overnight
  • Provide leadership and operational support across Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping and Loss Prevention
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the hotel, ensuring service and operational standards are consistently maintained
  • Act as the senior point of contact for guests, taking ownership of any concerns, complaints or service recovery situations
  • Support and lead colleagues working across the hotel overnight
  • Oversee Front Office and Night Audit procedures, ensuring end-of-day processes and reporting are completed accurately
  • Ensure overnight guest requests and operational requirements are responded to quickly and professionally
  • Take overall responsibility for the safety and security of guests, colleagues and the hotel
  • Lead the hotel response in the event of an emergency or significant operational incident
  • Work closely with Loss Prevention to ensure appropriate security procedures and overnight patrols are completed
  • Provide a clear and detailed handover to the relevant management teams each morning
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve the overnight guest experience and hotel operation

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous management experience within a luxury hotel, resort or high-quality hospitality environment
  • Is confident taking responsibility for a busy hotel operation and making decisions independently
  • Has strong operational knowledge, ideally with experience across Front Office, Rooms or wider hotel operations
  • Is a calm and capable leader who can manage unexpected situations professionally
  • Has excellent guest service and service recovery skills
  • Can build strong relationships and lead colleagues across multiple departments
  • Has a strong understanding of hotel safety, security and emergency procedures
  • Is organised, commercially aware and comfortable working with hotel systems and reports
  • Takes ownership and accountability and is confident acting as the senior leader within the hotel
  • Is flexible to work permanent night shifts, including weekends and public holidays

This role would suit an experienced hotel leader who enjoys responsibility, variety and being trusted to make decisions. The Night Manager will work a 4 nights on, 4 nights off shift pattern. Typical working hours will be 8:00pm - 8:00am

The role will include weekends and public holidays in line with the agreed rota and the operational requirements of the hotel.
