Old Thorns Hotel & Resort is a four-star hotel, set in 400 acres of picturesque Hampshire countryside and offers customers a unique experience all in one place. It is easily accessible from the A3, only 30 minutes from the M25 and Portsmouth.

With bedrooms, residences & penthouses, a championship golf course, meeting and events spaces, restaurants, a health club and a beauty spa, Old Thorns is the ideal destination for our customers to enjoy a night away, staycation, wedding, event, golf break, conference and much more.

Job Description

Old Thorns Hotel & Resort is seeking a Night Porter to join our team! This entry-level role aims to ensure the smooth and safe running of the operational activities within the hotel, ensuring all guests receive high standards of customer service and care, and is ideal for someone looking to start their career in Front of House.

This is a live-out position, working 5 nights out of 7 on a rota basis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To carry out night audit tasks and provide a full and thorough handover takes place at the end of the shift
  • To have a good knowledge and understanding of all hotel facilities and outlets and able to answer customer queries quickly and effectively
  • Undertake routine walk rounds of all areas of the hotel on a regular basis and report irregularities to the Night Manager.
  • To set up conference and banqueting suites in accordance with hotel function requirements, ensuring the hotel standards are maintained
  • To ensure that all front of house public areas are cleaned as per company cleaning procedures, therefore creating a professional impression to guests and employees
  • To undertake room service duties when catering department is closed
  • Ensure our guests receive the highest standards of service

Qualifications

  • Valid Right to Work in the UK is required - sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Previous experience within a similar role is advantageous
  • Work well within a team
  • Smart personal presentation and polite, attentive and friendly manner
  • Have good communication skills with a good level of spoken English
  • Able to deliver great customer service at all times
