Night RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse) – 24-Hour Emergency & Critical Care
About the Role
Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS registered) looking to work in a fast-paced, well-equipped 24-hour veterinary hospital? Medivet Watford 24 is seeking an exceptional RVN to join our overnight team at our busy emergency, critical care and inpatient unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist a Veterinary Surgeon in managing and supporting inpatients overnight
- Provide high standards of care to medical, surgical, and critical care patients
- Triage and respond to emergency phone calls and consultations 24/7
- Support emergency surgeries alongside veterinary surgeons
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor patient conditions overnight, recognising and responding to changes
- Maintain accurate clinical records and handovers
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, infection control, and hygiene protocols
- Deliver exceptional client communication, offering compassionate support during emergencies
- Contribute to a positive team culture

This night shift (7 nights on, 7 nights off) role is ideal for an RVN with a passion for emergency and critical care. Exceptional candidates should be calm, organised, and thrive in high-pressure environments.
About You
To excel in this role, you should:
✅ Be an RCVS-registered Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Ideally with experience in emergency, referral, or hospital practice (but willing to train)
- Essential: Strong foundation in inpatient care, anaesthesia, and emergency nursing
- Proven ability to work independently during overnight shifts
✅ Core competencies:
- Clear, calm communication with clients, teams, and veterinary surgeons
- Attention to detail in record-keeping and regulatory compliance
- Quick problem-solving to address patient health changes promptly
