Alexander Steele Recruitment are working with an established food manufacturing business based in Hertfordshire, who are seeking an experienced Shift Production Manager to join their team.

This is a hands-on leadership role, overseeing night shift production, food safety, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's health and safety agenda, investigating and closing out accidents, near misses, and RIDDOR reports to eliminate risk
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, and product specifications, working closely with the QA team
  • Oversee day-to-day production, holding daily briefings with team leaders to review performance and resolve operational issues
  • Monitor KPIs including OEE%, labour hours, and delivery targets, driving efficiency through Total Lean Culture (TLC) tools
  • Manage labour, raw material, and production costs, producing daily variance reports and identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of Team Leaders and Setters, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Drive employee engagement, ensuring fair and transparent management of absence, lateness, and holiday
  • Conduct performance reviews and development plans, supporting continuous improvement and career progression
