Night Shift Operations Manager

Food Manufacturing | East Yorkshire | £60,000 - £65,000

Most night shifts are about keeping the lights on.

This one isn't.

Thanks to significant investment, major restructuring, and increasing customer demand, this food manufacturing site is entering its next phase of growth. Production volumes are increasing, the night operation is expanding, and for the first time, they're creating a dedicated Night Shift Operations Manager to take complete ownership of the site overnight.

This isn't a glorified Shift Manager role.

When the days leave, you'll be the senior operational leader on site.

You'll have around 100 people operating across production, with Shift Managers reporting directly into you and dotted-line responsibility across Engineering, Hygiene, and Quality. Your job is to make sure every department is pulling in the same direction while developing the leadership team beneath you into a high-performing operation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll inherit a business that's already invested heavily in its people, processes, and facilities. Now they need someone who can make the most of it.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the entire manufacturing operation throughout the night shift.
  • Coaching and developing a team of Shift Managers to raise leadership capability.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Hygiene, and Quality to keep the operation running smoothly.
  • Driving performance across safety, quality, service, and productivity.
  • Building a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Making decisions that keep the site moving when everyone else has gone home.

What they're looking for

You've already done this.

Not necessarily with the same job title, but you've been the senior operational leader on nights within a food manufacturing environment.

You'll know what it's like being the person everyone turns to when something goes wrong.

More importantly, you'll enjoy developing people rather than simply managing them.

You'll probably have experience as a:

  • Night Operations Manager
  • Night Production Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Manufacturing Manager
  • Senior Shift Manager (with genuine site-wide responsibility)

Food manufacturing experience is essential.

Why this one?

There aren't many opportunities where you get to shape a growing night operation from the ground up without inheriting years of legacy problems.

The investment has already happened.

The business is growing.

The structure is in place.

Now they need the right leader to bring it all together.

If you're looking for another role where you simply maintain the status quo, this probably isn't for you.

If you'd rather build something, apply below and let's have a conversation.

As always, your application will be handled in complete confidence.
