Job Purpose
Role Description
Lead the shift manufacturing team to drive operational excellence and achieve the production of quality, defect-free products in a safe and efficient manner under the manufacturing principles of QCDSP.
Lead all aspects of the production of factory products on shift, including management of materials and labour. Particular emphasis is placed on the short to medium-term strategy of enabling the factory to respond to the growth plans of all brands in the area of control. To support the team in ensuring maximum utilisation of operational staff and equipment in achieving optimal line efficiency within the Company safety, quality, and environmental policies.

Dimensions
- Annual volume delivery of circa 18 M eqcs for Wisbech site.
- 4 Direct reports (4 x Manufacturing Shift Co-ordinators).
- Circa 80 Indirect reports at Wisbech.
- Manufacturing Materials budget c.£155million pa.
- Manufacturing Labour budget c.£10M pa.
- Works 4 on 4 off static nights shift pattern.
Principal Responsibilities
- Be supportive, act with integrity, show enthusiasm, and embrace openness.
- Have in-depth understanding of the Princes Operating System (POS) and maturity matrix, and site Must Win Battle Plans.
- Support and lead lean manufacturing work practices including 5S, AM, problem solving (including root cause analysis) to drive continuous improvement activity at site.
- Deputise for Site Manufacturing Manager during their absence on shift.
- Lead the Manufacturing team in the fulfilment of targets set by site-specific KPIs to ensure departmental and individual goals and objectives are aligned and achieved through tactical and business objectives.
- Lead the wider operational teams outside of normal office hours in the fulfilment of targets set by site-specific KPIs, to ensure departmental and individual goals and objectives are aligned and achieved through tactical and business objectives.
- Efficiently manage the manufacturing canning process to meet production demands, ensuring that associated resources and raw materials are utilised effectively.
- Ensure that product meets defined Customer specifications by adhering to recipe instructions and Quality Assurance manufacturing procedures.
- Monitor and accurately complete all reporting and recording procedures applicable to the designated tasks.
- Lead and develop the team in accordance with HR policies and procedures, including operator training, communication, and team development.
- Ensure strict conformance to Company hygiene standards whilst protecting Health and Safety throughout production by communicating policies and standards demonstrated through behavioural safety audits.
- Monitor and maintain all process equipment reporting faults/problems to the appropriate source through the established continuous improvement reporting system.
- Undertake any other tasks/projects as required by the Manufacturing Manager.
- Contribute to the health & safety of self and others by applying health and safety principles to the required standards whilst undertaking designated tasks.
- The seniority of your position requires you to be flexible and work the hours and shifts necessary to perform your role. You may be required to work other shifts temporarily i.e. to attend meetings, training etc. or on a permanent basis based on business need. Appropriate communication and notice will be given.

General Responsibilities
- Understanding and implementation of lean manufacturing work practices including 5S, AM, and problem solving (including root cause analysis), to drive continuous improvement activity throughout the site.
- Have a detailed understanding of the Princes Operating System (POS) and the Site Must Win Battle Plan.
- Ensure all training for direct reports is documented using the appropriate skills matrix.
- You must exercise reasonable skill and care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work and you must not interfere with or obstruct anything provided in the interests of health and safety at work.
- The incumbent should demonstrate behaviours which are in line with the site values & help to improve the Quality, Safety & Environmental culture.
- Support the business in working towards delivering our ethical trading and human rights vision.
- When engaging with internal and external stakeholders (such as consumers, customers, or suppliers) maximise any potential opportunities to communicate Princes’ ethical trade and human rights approach.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Knowledge
- Experience of working within an FMCG environment.
- Detailed knowledge of continuous improvement work practices.
- General knowledge of engineering would be desirable.
- Experience of working with Trade Unions.
- Experience of dealing with HR/people issues (disciplines, grievances, performance management issues etc.).
Skills
- Strong leadership and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Proactive approach and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to motivate, coach, and engage teams.
