WHY SECOND NATURE

Care, made daily.

Second Nature is part of Lamington Group. Hometel is a word Lamington Group created and owns. We design and run hometels, places that are practical but still feel good to stay in, built around how people actually travel and live. Feeling properly looked after matters too, so our teams pay attention to what guests actually need, not what a script tells them to do.

We’re looking for people who care about the work in front of them and the people around them. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

THE ROLE

What’s the role about?

You are a Night Supervisor at Second Nature. During night hours, you’re part of the core team keeping the property safe, secure, and welcoming. You’re one of the faces guests see if they need something in the early hours.

You balance being attentive with being efficient. You keep an eye on the building, respond to guest requests, coordinate with housekeeping, and support the Night Manager. You’re trusted to act on your own when issues come up, knowing when to sort it yourself and when to escalate.

You’re an essential part of our night operations. You understand the importance of guest safety, building security, and supporting your team. You work with calm professionalism, knowing your presence during these quiet hours makes a real difference to guests and to the property.

Who You Are

Five things we hire for.

These are the Second Nature values. We use them across every role in the Group, from Maintenance to Front of House to the kitchens. If three or more of these sound like you on a good day, this is your kind of place.

  • Use Instinct. A guest knocks on the door at 2am, stressed. You hear it in their voice and respond with calm. You sense housekeeping will be stretched tomorrow and brief the Night Manager on what they’ll need.
  • Own It. You don’t wait for the Night Manager to tell you what to do. You spot a maintenance issue and report it. You see a guest needs help and provide it. You take responsibility for the shift running smoothly.
  • Include All. Night shift is quieter, but you keep communication flowing and morale up. You support your team genuinely, and they feel valued because you’re present and actually interested in how they’re doing.
  • Stay Curious. You ask why the same maintenance issue keeps happening on night shift, and you think about how to prevent it. But you don’t get so caught up in solutions that you miss what’s happening right now.
  • Think Big. You’re part of the team that makes guests feel safe and cared for when the world’s quiet. Your attentiveness during these hours builds the trust that makes someone want to come back.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We don’t hire for a big hotel name on your CV. We can teach you the systems. We can’t teach you how to read a room.

What You'll Do

On a good day, you might…

  • Respond to guest requests and room issues promptly, at any hour, with genuine care.
  • Help with late check-ins and early check-outs, keeping things smooth for guests arriving or leaving at odd hours.
  • Patrol common areas and corridors regularly, staying alert through the night.
  • Monitor security systems, check doors and windows are secure, and respond to alarms calmly.
  • Report maintenance issues straight away, especially anything safety-related.
  • Support your fellow night staff, and help housekeeping with any urgent room issues.
  • Keep clear, accurate records of night-time activity and incidents.
  • Know basic emergency procedures well enough to guide guests confidently if needed.

What You'll Bring

Experience that fits the role.

  • Some experience in night operations, hotel duties, or a similar role. A big hotel name on your CV isn’t required.
  • Experience responding to guest requests and handling issues as they come up.
  • Comfort with monitoring systems and basic security procedures.
  • The ability to work well on your own during quiet periods.
  • An alert, observant nature, especially during quiet hours.
  • A calm, professional approach to unexpected situations.

What You'll Love Working Here

What you get back.

  • Team that means it. You’ll work with people who know the property runs safely because of you. Leaders are hands-on, with regular check-ins on how you’re doing and where you want to go.
  • Growth that’s real. We build from within. Your path might lead to Night Manager or wider roles across the business.
  • Learning, built in. Proper training from day one, plus skills in safety and guest care that carry into whatever you do next.
  • Time off that respects you. More annual leave the longer you stay, company benefits, two paid volunteer days a year, and a Company Sick Pay Scheme.
  • Stay with us, on us. Friends-and-family rates across our hometels and the wider group, plus one free stay on us.
  • The day-to-day. Pension contributions, wellbeing support, a Cycle to Work scheme, and gym access at our properties.

How It Works

Our hiring process.

We keep it short, honest and human.

  • Apply. Send your CV and a few lines on why this role caught your eye. No cover letter needed, we’d rather hear from you directly.
  • First conversation. A 30-minute call with the hiring manager about the role, the team, and you.
  • On-site visit. Meet the team and see the building. You should know what you’re signing up for before you say yes.
  • Offer. If it’s a fit on both sides, we move quickly.

WE CLOSE THE LOOP

Every applicant hears back from us, yes or no. We don’t ghost.

FOR EVERYONE

A note on inclusion.

Second Nature and Lamington Group are equal opportunities employers. We hire on attitude and ability. We welcome applications from every background, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion or belief.

If you need any adjustments to take part in our hiring process, tell us when you apply. We’ll work with you.
