About Us

Meachers Global Logistics is one of the UK's leading independent logistics providers. For more than 50 years, we have delivered tailored solutions across freight forwarding, supply chain management, UK warehousing and distribution, contract management, training, and advisory services. Our experienced team combines reliable service with a customer-focused approach to support clients across a wide range of industries.

The Role: Night Traffic Operator

We are seeking an experienced Night Traffic Operator to coordinate and control our overnight UK transport operation. You will help ensure that vehicle, driver, and container movements are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant legislation.

Working closely with the Transport Manager and wider Traffic Team, you will monitor vehicle and container movements throughout the night shift, support drivers, resolve operational issues, and keep transport systems and plans accurate and up to date.

You will need strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the confidence to make timely operational decisions in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, routing, and scheduling drivers and company vehicles to ensure efficient overnight transport operations.
  • Supervising and supporting drivers during night operations, acting as the main point of contact for operational queries and issues.
  • Monitoring ongoing vehicle movements and responding to delays, breakdowns, or operational changes.
  • Managing container movements, including coordinating deliveries and collections from ports, depots, and customer sites.
  • Managing Container Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS) for port collections and deliveries, ensuring slots are booked and utilized effectively to avoid delays and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Maximizing the utilization of fleet and subcontractor resources to ensure cost-effective transport operations.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all transport management systems are kept up to date.
  • Ensuring compliance with Drivers' Hours Regulations, Tachograph Rules, and the Working Time Directive.
  • Communicating clearly with drivers, warehouse teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth overnight operations.
  • Providing updates to management on operational performance and any issues arising during the shift.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
