Pay Rate: £34,000
Grade: N
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Shift patterns: 4On 4Off - 6pm - 6am
Location: Coleford, GL16 8JB

We're now looking for a Transport First Line Manager to take the helm of our daily transport operations! In this pivotal role, you will lead our dynamic team to achieve excellence and drive success throughout our transport network. Join us and be a key player in shaping the future of logistics!

What You'll Do

  • Review and amend where appropriate daily plans
  • Daily operations issue management and resolution for transport and with local warehouse
  • Management of short term driver absence and relocation of work
  • Responsible for full and effective daily brief/debrief for DHL, agency and sub-contractor drivers
  • Responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance during shift in accordance with DHL Asset Management Centre of Excellence standards
  • Ensuring all drivers are appropriately trained and familiarised with both operations and equipment (only where there is no regional site compliance teams)
  • Ensuring and sampling pre-shift checks (yard checks) and the defect process
  • Ensuring fleet management (OPS) processes are adhered to
  • Accident and breakdown management via DHL standard operating procedures
  • Ownership and accountability for driver induction, training and qualification are up to date for drivers reports (only where there is no regional site compliance teams)
  • From time to time you may be requested to deputise for the Transport Manager on daily plan/do/review calls
  • To schedule, prepare and conduct quarterly 1-2-1's with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines
  • Interrogation, allocation and assignment of work via TMS, ensuring system compliance
  • Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepancies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan
  • Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc
  • Manage disciplinary and grievance in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures

  • Logistic Industry and supervisory level
  • Transport Office experience
  • Transport legal compliance experience
  • Conflict Management /Performance Appraisal/Disciplinary & Grievance Training - (Essential)
  • Can lead from the front, winning hearts and minds and providing coaching and mentorship
  • Have excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Aren't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in when needed
