Night Maintenance Engineer
Salary: GBP 58,000 per annum
Hours: 47.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 16:00 : 02:00)
Location: Norfolk
Position: Permanent, Night Shift
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Night Maintenance Engineer to join a leading food manufacturing facility in Norfolk. Operating on a permanent night shift, you will play a critical role in minimizing downtime by swiftly responding to production breakdowns and carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across complex processing and packaging machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, highly skilled engineer to take ownership of site reliability, carry out continuous improvement projects, and maintain high standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Breakdown and Response: Rapidly diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults on fast-paced production and packaging lines.
- Maintenance Execution: Deliver routine PPM schedules, lubrication tasks, and corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Technical Equipment Focus: Work with specialized machinery including conveyors, tray/module transport systems, automated process machinery, tray sealers, flow wrappers, and vacuum sealers.
- Electrical and Systems Support: Read schematic drawings, perform electrical installations, and carry out basic fault-finding on PLC systems.
- Project Work: Assist in small-scale engineering projects, modifications, and process improvements across the site.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to HSE protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Permits to Work, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Requirements
Essential
- Qualifications: Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 and City and Guilds (Electrical or Mechanical).
- Skills: Strong multi-skilled capabilities with a thorough understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Technical Abilities: Proficient in reading schematic diagrams and possessing strong workshop skills (including MIG, TIG, or ARC welding).
- Mindset: Logical approach to fault-finding, excellent organizational skills, and a self-motivated, can-do attitude to work independently during night operations.
- ONC / HNC in Engineering or equivalent.
- 17th / 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
- Competency in PLC diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Background in food manufacturing, FMCG, or automated processing environments.
