About AmcoGiffen
AmcoGiffen is a leading UK engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the rail, civil engineering and construction sectors. Our Barnsley fabrication facility specialises in the manufacture of steel structures supporting major infrastructure projects throughout the UK, including bridges, rail infrastructure, access structures and heavy structural steelwork.
Due to a significant increase in workload and a growing order book, we are seeking an experienced Nightshift Fabricator to join our established fabrication team.
The Role
Working within our busy fabrication workshop, you will be responsible for the fabrication of medium to heavy steelwork to exacting quality standards, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects nationwide.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled fabricator with experience working from engineering drawings and assembling complex steel structures in a heavy fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out medium to heavy steel fabrication activities within a workshop environment.
- Read, interpret and work accurately from fabrication and engineering drawings.
- Assemble structural steelwork, bridge components and associated fabricated products to required specifications.
- Operate hand tools, power tools and fabrication machinery safely and effectively.
- Safely use lifting equipment, overhead cranes and mechanical handling aids where required.
- Carry out dimensional checks and ensure fabricated products meet quality requirements.
- Work collaboratively with welders, supervisors and production teams to achieve production targets.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
- Adhere to all company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties associated with the role.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication or equivalent recognised fabrication qualification.
- Previous experience within a heavy steel fabrication or engineering workshop environment.
- Experience fabricating structural steelwork, bridges or large engineering components.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret fabrication drawings.
- Strong understanding of fabrication techniques and workshop practices.
- CSCS Card (preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a nightshift team.
