Bullet Express is looking for an experienced and highly organised Nightshift Transport Planner to join our busy operation at our Bothwell site.
This is a key operational role with responsibility for planning and routing our pallet delivery operation, ensuring deliveries are routed accurately and efficiently and that drivers have everything they need to leave the depot correctly and on time each morning.
We are looking for someone who can think logically, solve problems and remain calm under pressure. Attention to detail is absolutely essential — this is a role where decisions made during the night directly impact the success of the following day's delivery operation.
About The Role
As Nightshift Transport Planner, you will be responsible for all aspects of planning and routing deliveries for our busy pallet network operation.
You will work with delivery data, vehicle capacities, geographical areas and operational requirements to create efficient and achievable delivery routes.
The role doesn't stop once the routes are planned. You will also be responsible for ensuring all relevant information is accurately entered into our systems, producing driver paperwork and pre-briefing drivers as they arrive in the morning.
You will need to be comfortable making decisions and reacting quickly when the original plan needs to change.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and routing daily pallet deliveries across our delivery network.
- Creating efficient and achievable routes based on delivery locations, freight volumes, vehicle capacities and operational requirements.
- Reviewing delivery data and identifying potential routing or capacity issues before they become problems.
- Making logical adjustments to routes as freight volumes and operational requirements change.
- Ensuring all routing information is entered accurately into the Transport Management System (TMS).
- Creating and preparing all driver paperwork required for the following day's operation.
- Checking paperwork and routing information carefully for accuracy.
- Ensuring drivers are allocated to the correct routes and vehicles.
- Pre-briefing drivers as they arrive in the morning.
- Ensuring drivers have all paperwork and information required before leaving the depot.
- Communicating any specific delivery requirements, restrictions or important information to drivers.
- Working closely with the wider nightshift and transport teams.
- Identifying and resolving problems quickly and logically.
- Providing an accurate handover of any outstanding issues to the day operation.

The successful candidate will be working with a large amount of delivery and routing information, and accuracy is essential.
You must be someone who naturally checks their work, spots potential issues and thinks ahead.
We are looking for someone who can look at a problem, assess the information available and make a logical and practical operational decision rather than becoming overwhelmed when plans change.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in transport routing within a pallet delivery or pallet network environment is required.
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous transport planning and routing experience.
- Experience within a pallet delivery, pallet network or similar fast-paced transport environment.
- Strong geographical and routing knowledge.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- The confidence to make logical operational decisions.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to brief drivers.
- Previous computer and data-entry experience.
- The ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
- A reliable and responsible approach to work.
- The ability to work independently while also being part of the wider operational team.

Previous experience using a Transport Management System (TMS) would be beneficial; however, full training on our systems will be provided.

- Delivery routes are planned accurately, efficiently and realistically.
- Vehicle capacity and geographical routing are considered when creating runs.
- Potential problems are identified and resolved before vehicles leave the depot.
- Routing and delivery information is entered accurately.
- Driver paperwork is complete and ready on time.
- Drivers are properly pre-briefed and understand their routes and requirements.
- Drivers leave the depot correctly and on schedule.
- Changes and unexpected issues are handled calmly and logically.
- The day operation receives a clear and accurate handover.
