The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Race Mechanic to join our team. Reporting to the No.1 Mechanic, you will be responsible for the preparation of the race car along with travelling to Test and Race events as required.
You will also be liaising with the No.1 Mechanic on all build specifications and set up sheets to ensure the car is prepared to the highest possible standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with the No.1 Mechanic on all gearbox, hydraulics, sub-assembly, electronics, and composite specifications, ensure car is built following MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team’s procedures.
- Responsible for informing the No.1 Mechanic/Spares Co-ordinator of any car part changes during all running times.
- Travelling to Test and Race events to assist the Race team as required.
- Responsible for changing ratios on gearbox assemblies, hydraulic system fitment & bleeding, measuring and fitment of clutch packs.
- To take part in physical training sessions and be part of the pit crew when directed by the Chief mechanic.
- To ensure efficient reporting of any chassis, engine or equipment technical faults
- To ensure quality of build by using all the sign off tools provided as per the gearbox build procedures.
- To assist the team in dismantling the pit garage system at the end of an event and to assist in any other way as directed by the Team Manager and /or Chief Mechanic.
- Responsible for keeping a clean and tidy working environment at the circuit and our Operations Centre.
- Attend team meetings and health and safety meetings as required.
- Utilising SAP to create build sheets and ensure assembled components have enough mileage to complete events.

About You
- Previous Formula one experience as a mechanic is essential.
- Knowledge of Formula one Gearbox systems and build preparation is an advantage.
- Fully qualified as Motorsport mechanic NVQ or higher.
- Proven SAP experience and computer skills
Flexibility in hours and travelling approach is required, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team playing’ attitude. Good verbal and written communication skills are very important. The ability to work under minimal supervision to strict deadlines and in a professional manner is essential.
