No.2 Race Team Mechanic

The No.2 Race Team Mechanic is a key member of the Race Team, responsible for the preparation, assembly, maintenance, and operation of an assigned Formula 1® cars throughout the racing season. Working closely with the No.1 Mechanic, Engineers, and wider trackside personnel, you will help ensure the car is prepared, maintained, and operated to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Operating within a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, you will play an integral role in race weekend execution, including car build activities, fault diagnosis, repairs, pit stop operations, and event support. This role requires extensive international travel and a commitment to delivering exceptional performance at Formula 1® races and test events worldwide.

  • Assemble, service, maintain, inspect, and rebuild Formula 1® cars, sub-assemblies, and components in accordance with engineering specifications, build procedures, and quality standards, ensuring all activities are completed to agreed deadlines and the highest standards of workmanship, reliability, and performance
  • Complete build documentation, inspection records, component lifing reports, and checklists accurately, ensuring full traceability, compliance, and effective communication of any technical, quality, or reliability concerns
  • Perform planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and root cause investigations, implementing corrective actions to maximise vehicle performance and reliability throughout race and test activities
  • Support all trackside mechanical operations, including car servicing, repairs, setup changes, event preparation, and live pit stop activities
  • Work closely with No.1 Mechanics, Engineers, Drivers, and the wider Race Team to support vehicle performance, operational execution, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the preparation, management, and maintenance of race and test equipment, tooling, spares, and other event-related assets
  • Foster strong working relationships across both trackside and factory-based functions, contributing to a collaborative and high-performance team culture
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all tools, equipment, and components are properly controlled and maintained
  • Adhere to all company procedures, quality standards, health and safety requirements, and regulatory obligations

Requirements

What do we need from you?

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic within a professional motorsport environment, (Formula 1®, Formula 2®, FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), IMSA, IndyCar, Formula E) with hands-on involvement in the assembly, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of high-performance race cars
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, engineering drawings, build procedures, and quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining exceptional levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple technical and operational functions
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a high-performing team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Flexible and willing to travel extensively on an international basis throughout the Formula 1® season
  • Previous trackside race team experience, including race weekend operations, testing activities, and pit stop procedures

Working Environment

This is a full-time trackside role requiring extensive domestic and international travel throughout the Formula 1® season, including attendance at races, tests, promotional activities, and other team events. Flexibility is essential, with long and varied working hours, including evenings and weekends, forming a core part of the role.

The position involves manual handling, repetitive physical activities, and working with Formula 1® cars, specialist machinery, workshop equipment, test rigs, and associated engineering systems in a demanding, high-performance environment. All activities must be carried out in accordance with Company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
