Non-Clinical Support Worker - Acute Medical Unit
An opportunity has arisen at Royal Lancaster Infirmary for a Non-Clinical Support Worker on the Acute Medical Unit.
We would invite candidates who want to help us make a difference for our patients.
We are excited to be able to offer this role to someone who is a committed member of staff who enjoys being part of the wider team.
Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with all staff to maintain a clean and safe environment and ensure housekeeping jobs are completed in a satisfactory manner.
- To co-ordinate all patient facilities services within the ward area.
- Ordering of supplies for the ward and maintaining stores.
- To ensure that the ward is a safe, clean, tidy, and comfortable environment.
- Ensure that food and drinks are available to meet the patients’ needs throughout the day.
- Assist the ward staff to receive, welcome, and guide patients and visitors onto the ward.
- Assist in daily bed making.
- Assist in the preparation of bed areas on transfer and discharge of patients.
- Ensure all patients are afforded privacy and dignity throughout their stay.
- Ensure that there is an adequate linen supply throughout the day.

About the Trust
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
- FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
- WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
- All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery.
- In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
