Job Opportunity: Non Clinical Support Worker at Royal Lancaster Infirmary

An opportunity has arisen at Royal Lancaster Infirmary for a Non Clinical Support Worker on ward 4 working 2 fixed days during the week.

About the Role

We would invite candidates who want to help us make a difference for our patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with all staff to maintain a clean and safe environment and ensure housekeeping jobs are completed in a satisfactory manner.
  • Provision of meals and drinks to patients as well as assisting them with diet and fluids when required.
  • Assist the ward staff to receive, welcome, and guide patients and visitors.
  • Assist nursing staff with the feeding of patients who are unable to do so for themselves and complete fluid and food charts where necessary.
  • Ensure all patients are afforded privacy and dignity throughout their stay.
  • Ensure that there is an adequate linen supply throughout the day.
  • Respond to health emergencies as appropriate by alerting staff.
  • Monitor ward supplies and order stock where required.
  • Putting supplies away in the appropriate places.
  • Ensuring the cupboards are kept clean and tidy throughout the ward.
  • Supporting nurses when necessary to keep patients safe.
  • Kitchen cleanliness, monitoring and recording of fridge temperatures.
  • Checking expiry dates on stores and rotating supplies.

About Us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
