Are you a Non-Contentious Construction Solicitor with 4–6 years' PQE looking to develop your career within one of the UK's leading Construction & Development practices?

This is an excellent opportunity to join the London Construction & Development team of a prestigious international law firm, working alongside highly regarded partners on major UK and international construction, energy, infrastructure and development projects. About the Team

The Construction & Development team is a market-leading practice with an outstanding reputation for advising on some of the UK's and international markets' most significant development, energy and infrastructure projects.

The team advises across the full lifecycle of construction and engineering projects, with particular strength across energy transition, renewables, power, utilities, data centres, transport, social infrastructure, industrial processing and major commercial and real estate development.

The client base includes developers, sponsors, funds, utilities, independent power producers, contractors, operators, technology providers, universities and public sector bodies. The team advises on procurement strategies, development structures, joint ventures, construction and O&M contracts, project finance structures and major regeneration and infrastructure programmes.

The practice offers associates excellent breadth of work, early responsibility and direct client contact, with the opportunity to work closely with highly regarded partners on some of the market's most complex and strategically important projects.

The Role

This opportunity is ideal for a Non-Contentious Construction Solicitor with 4–6 years' PQE who is looking to take the next step within a highly regarded international Construction & Development practice.

Working closely with senior lawyers and clients, you will lead and support workstreams on major UK and international projects across the energy, infrastructure, data centre and commercial development sectors. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of matters from an early stage, develop strong client relationships and play an active role in the continued growth of the practice.

Your work will include:

  • Advising on major UK and international construction and engineering projects across energy, renewables, power, utilities, infrastructure and data centres.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of construction and engineering agreements, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke contracts.
  • Advising on professional appointments, collateral warranties, guarantees, security documents and long-term operational agreements.
  • Advising developers, sponsors, funders, contractors, utilities, operators and public sector clients on procurement strategy, risk allocation and wider commercial issues.
  • Supporting complex development and regeneration projects, including commercial, residential, retail, leisure, hotel and mixed-use schemes.
  • Working closely with colleagues across Projects, Energy, Real Estate, Corporate and other specialist practice areas on large-scale multidisciplinary transactions.
  • Taking ownership of your own workstreams, coordinating project documentation and providing practical, commercially focused advice directly to clients.
  • Supporting business development initiatives, pitches and client relationship management, while contributing to the development of junior colleagues and team know-how.

This role offers exceptional exposure to high-value and strategically important projects, together with genuine responsibility, direct client contact and the opportunity to develop specialist expertise across some of the fastest-growing areas of the construction market.

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 4–6 years' PQE.
  • Strong experience advising on construction and engineering projects, ideally across energy, renewables, power, utilities, infrastructure, data centres and/or commercial development.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation experience across JCT, NEC and bespoke construction agreements; experience with FIDIC, EPC, EPCM or other international project documentation would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and commercial issues affecting major construction, development and infrastructure projects.
  • Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, funders and other project stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded, collaborative and organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to client relationships and business development, with the ambition to contribute to the continued growth of a market-leading practice.
