Construction Lawyer
The continued success of the team has led to an increase in the number value of key mandates, and we are looking to recruit a Construction lawyer to join our Manchester team to work on a variety of non-contentious construction matters.
Join a team advising on complex construction, development, regeneration, energy, utilities, process, mechanical and civil engineering projects supporting both major private companies and also central and local government and other public sector bodies.
There is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in non-contentious work, client relationship development and continued expansion of the team and practice.
The Manchester team's specialist experience combined with their commerciality, great relationships and innovation are the reason that they are Tier 1 ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers.
The work of the group is hugely varied and includes Development, Energy, Social and Economic Infrastructure, PFI/PPP and Water and Utilities. Projects and advice cover the whole range of construction, engineering and procurement issues across both public and private sectors.
The team advise on every aspect of Construction Law across all sectors of the industry, both contentious and non-contentious. The work of the group is hugely varied and includes buildings, civil and process plant engineering, energy, infrastructure and utilities - across both private and public sectors. The team also provide project support and advice to our wider Real Estate, Banking and Projects teams.

What You'll Do
Our market leading construction team continues to grow the mandates on which it acts both for existing and new clients. You will have plenty of opportunity to assist in pitching for work and helping to manage client relationships.
- Providing strategic advice to a diverse range of high-calibre clients—including government bodies, funders, developers, employers, operators, contractors, sub-contractors, and professional teams—on high-profile projects, procurement strategies (including facilities management), and effective dispute avoidance and resolution mechanisms.
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of construction and engineering contracts, including JCT, NEC, and bespoke agreements.
- Autonomy and significant client engagement; as first line support for our Partners, you'll be taking your experience and expertise to the next level where you'll be supporting our clients on a range of complex and market leading matters in a range of sectors including living, office, retail, life sciences, energy, industrials and transport.
- You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the Partners and Managing Associates on more complex matters.
- You can expect to have the opportunity to play a significant role in working for clients that are key to the Group and to the firm.

Who We're Looking For
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Have 2 to 5 Years' PQE within Non-Contentious Construction matters, with a particular focus on Real Estate Development
- Be a confident stakeholder manager, with experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
- Have excellent procedural and document management capabilities, and confidence in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instructions.
- Maintain efficient diary and task management across a range matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team.
- Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
