Job Specification: Non-Dilutive Funding Specialist (Medical Equipment)

Role Overview

  • Position: Funding & Grants Specialist (Medical Equipment)
  • Location: Hybrid (Mix of remote and onsite collaboration)
  • Type: Full-time, Permanent / In-House
  • Focus: Non-dilutive funding, R&D grants, healthcare innovation bids

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify Pathways: Scout medical R&D grant opportunities (e.g., Innovate UK, NIHR, Horizon Europe, SBRI Healthcare).
  • Write Proposals: Author high-scoring technical dossiers detailing clinical efficacy, engineering innovation, and health economics.
  • Manage Consortia: Build and maintain relationships with NHS trusts, universities, and clinical research organisations (CROs).
  • Align Compliance: Ensure all funding bids map strictly to medical device regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, MDR/IVDR).
  • Financial Planning: Build project budgets, cost-justification models, and post-award financial tracking systems.

Candidate Requirements

  • Sector Expertise: Minimum 3+ years securing grants specifically within medical devices, diagnostics, or digital health.
  • Clinical Literacy: Ability to confidently translate medical trial data, regulatory strategies, and health-economic impacts into writing.
  • Success Track Record: Documented history of securing six-to-seven-figure public sector innovation funding.
  • Project Management: Experience guiding cross-functional teams of clinical directors, software engineers, and financial controllers.
